Serenity is that illusive state of being which is difficult to maintain 24/7 ... and it may be impossible ... at least for me.

I have been on this “Way to Serenity” for well over 22 years.

Most of the time serenity is achieved internally with a positive attitude, a grateful & loving heart and a connection to some outside source of power;  a force for goodness and love.

That Higher Power is different for everyone whether religious or spiritual.  But sometimes a phrase, visual scene, relaxing music or sound can help create an atmosphere which nurtures inner peace and serenity.

I began this journey with paper-cut artwork when a good friend was in the hospital struggling with cancer.  I wanted to make something she could hang on her room wall that would give her hope and comfort.  After a courageous fight to live, cancer took her.

One thing she maintained through most of this struggle was a grateful heart.  She called me Christmas morning 2006 to tell me she was grateful her Higher Power gave her another Christmas with her family. She was grateful just to wake up that day. 

So I continued making framed pieces with little phrases and prayers hoping they might be sources of encouragement and inspiration for anyone looking for a little comfort and hope.

People began requesting to purchase some as gifts. Then I began to do some customizing to fit the recipients requests.

During the time I was making paper-cut artwork, I also began creating wearable art made from mosaic tiles. This originally started as a fund-raiser for the Mohawk Valley Council On Alcoholism /Addictions. I continue to make the Lotus pins and pendants, giving a portion of the proceeds from each item purchased back to MVCA/A as a donation.

Here I am three years later doing what many have asked:  Do you have a website?  I do now!  It is a work in progress, just like spirituality and serenity, with a lot of room to grow.
